I can't believe I'm asking this...

Recommended Posts

I know I know, this is a really awkward question but...

Can you feel the port under your skin?

I mean... Like, a little hard spot?

If you get skinny does it stick out????

Sorry to ask, but I felt sheepish asking the rep 'cause she's kinda...zealous and I didn't wanna offend her......

Oh... and how big is it? It's hard to tell from the pictures.

And how long does it take for the scars to go away....?

It is about the size of a quarter under your skin. I really didn't feel mine alot when I was big, I am smaller now and I can feel it. It doesn't ever bother me. My scars are barely noticiable a year later, I didn't pay attention to how long it took though.

It does peek out sometimes but not much and nothing major!

I am too, and it really isn't bad at all. You can see it or feel it when stretching or something like that. It is not always there looking at you!

I was also worried that I would obsess about it. But I don't even think about it. I can feel it when I lay down. It really is not a big deal. Good Luck

Can't see it, but if I lay down and like Chickie (feel myself up) I can feel it............. :) DF can not feel it or see it either......... maybe when I get further down the scale I might be able to see it, but I will then just get it changed out to a low profile version..........

NOT A BIG DEAL at all!

I have the lowprofile mini port because although I was 100 pounds overweight I wasn't that big in the stomach area and I have the small band. You have to really work and push in and have me put my hands above my head while lying down to try to feel mine. If you have a concern about it sticking out because I do have a friend that is banded and she is skinny minny now and you can see hers, have the lowprofile mini put in.

Use Vitamin E oil, you can get it at Walmart for your scars. I had 3rd degree burns over 33 % of my body, from thighs down and you can't hardly tell I was burnt and my plastic surgeon had me to use this for over a year after the explosion. It really works.

Good luck and you will love your band. I wouldn't take a farm out West for mine, lol.

I'M BANDED!!!

Dr. Rumbaut is amazing! He even arranged for one of his doctor friends to drop my mom off and pick her up so she could get inner and not have to eat hospital food.< /p>

I too have the low profile port, and my fill Dr. was shocked at how deep mine was placed. I have lost 100 pounds, and if I lay on my back I can feel a firmness where it is at, but nothing distinguishable.

I do have to be a little cautious if I am lifting something against myself (I noticed it when bucking 80 lb. bales of hay)--I feel pressure when it is pushed on while the muscle it is sewn into is flexed.

And since everyone expected this thread to be about this....occasionally in certain sexual positions I feel pressure on my port, but it is not painful...and we just move!

I don't think my port will ever protrude regardless how thin I were to ever get....

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
