If it's the one I'm thinking of, he used to work with my doctors and I saw him once or twice over the years. I liked him. Since my doctors are among the most-respected banding surgeons in the U.S. I'd absolutely trust anyone they felt comfortable working with.

I am considering Dr. Goldstein as well. I have my seminar tomorrow and then can schedule my first appt. with him. I am nervous about the whole thing but extremely hopeful that this will help me!

I went to the seminar on August 2nd. I scheduled my appointment with him the next day....brace yourself....my appointment is not until September 21st....people weren't kidding when they call this a process! I am a teacher and was hoping to have my initial consultation before I went back to school...but that's not happening!

Hi jowjow...So does the seminar really take the full 2 hours? Also, about how many people usually attend?

I'd love to keep in touch as we both go through the process.

It did last the full two hours. It was informative for someone that does not know anything about lapband. After discovering this site and doing so much research I truly felt bored at the seminar. It was not the doctors fault...I just felt like I was reading this website!

You do HAVE to attend a seminar and it was nice to get the ball rolling. I am truly looking forward to my appointment. I actually have called every week to see if there has been any cancellations...just to try to get in there earlier.

What kind of insurance do you have? At this point that is one of the only things I am worried about. I have great insurance...AmeriHealth...and they have told me that they cover LapBand surgery...I am just curious to see after my consultation what types of "rings of fire" I will have to jump through for approval.

I have BC/BS PPO also a very good insurance for this area. I unfortunately could not make the seminar last night as my son was sick, so I think I have to wait till 9/19 for the next one.

I'm unhappy but it couldn't be avoided.

I am anxious to get started as I am 41 and my metabolism has hit an all time low. Nothing seems to work for me anymore. I have approx. 145 pounds to lose.

Take care!

I had my consult with Dr. Goldstein a few weeks ago. I think he is very likable and has a great track record, but so far I find it really hard to get a phone call returned from his staff. I'm afraid his office is too busy.....

Any similar experiences?

Shelly

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
