post op food help

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I'm Zoë and I had my surgery on 2nd March 2016 at the Whittington health hospital, London so I'm 4weeks out,

Would like to ask, I'm getting ready board with food, I'm a vegetarian and finding it really hard to eat something different, its the same thing all the time. Could I have some ideals please to try.

Hope to hear something soon.

I had my op 3 days after you! At the BMI hospital in Orpington, Kent. I'm eating a lot more solid foods now but just chewing them loads and load until they have a purée texture. I forgot to mention I also get these amazing Soups from Aldi called Ilumi which are gluten free and they taste AMAZING. Stocking up on more of those today! X

Same here! My lips are so dry and cracked since last week and I've noticed that my skin all over in general, is SO dry. I think it might be because I'm just not drinking enough fluids. I live in Croydon but work in London if you ever fancy meeting up for a chat xxx

Pasta? I'm 5yrs out and still can't eat pasta and rice is even worse. I can tolerate chicken if it is very, very moist--like if it's cooked in a crock pot.

For my pasta/rice substitute I eat "Miracle Noodles". Google them to find out all about them. When washed, dried and cooked properly they are wonderful.

Good luck in your search. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
