Terrible itch since surgery

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on March 2nd and did really well. Actually down 29 pounds. I have had no issues except for this one. Terrible itch on back, abdomen, inside of legs and inside of arms. Went to the dermatologist and she said it was a heat rash and gave me some cream. Didn't work.

I went to the surgeon and she said it could be my way of getting rid of anesthesia etc. I don't think so. This has been going on for over 3 weeks. Does anyone else have this problem??

I didn't have this issue after my sleeve but I sure had it after my hysterectomy last August.

Are you still on pain or nausea meds? it was the medication they gave me in my pain pump that caused me to be itchy until I got it out of my system.

I was going to say the same thing I take Norco and one of the side effects is itching.

I've got it and I haven't taken anything stronger than Tylenol since the 17th. I did develop localized skin reactions from my heparin/lovenox injections, those are fading, but inside my arms and back aren't affected by that. I did develop a rash over my chest but it never itched. I do have super-sensitive skin, everything makes me itch ;-)

I got a rash and my Surgeon said it was yeast. He had me use athletes foot powder (not cream), and it cleared it right up.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
