KLSUMM 32 Posted April 2, 2016 How much pain is normal? I think I have gas from surgery still because I am getting very sharp pain and it's almost unbearable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
mrsmcm 0 Posted April 2, 2016 You are going to have gas for a few days. I used the gas-x strips that melt in your mouth. sleeping on your left side and walking will help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
De fluff 59 Posted April 2, 2016 Where do you get gas-x strips that melt in your mouth? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
mrsmcm 0 Posted April 2, 2016 You can get them pretty much anywhere that sells gas-x like Walmart, target, cvs, Walgreens etc
cowboys4life 226 Posted April 2, 2016 The gas x strips works great Craig Martinez Austin, Texas
KLSUMM 32 Posted April 2, 2016 I went and bought some. So far no real relief. I am heading to walk around the mall to try and work it out now. Thanks for all the suggestions
Puddles 23 Posted April 2, 2016 small walks on a regular basis helps. The gas that causes the pain is what is used to inflate your abdomen while they do surgery. It is impossible to get it all out prior to closing. Walking helps the body absorb.
superbeast 18 Posted April 3, 2016 I am also 48 hours out. I still have a lot of gas pain. Gas ex strips help a little but turn my stomach. I've been walking and stretching my arms up in the air. I finally let out a few farts and that seemed to help a little. Hang in there brother. I have been having some "buyers remorse" over this whole thing but deep down I know it will be a good thing. Just need to give it a few weeks. Drop me a PM if you want.
LMSWNYC 119 Posted April 3, 2016 Drink warm tea. It will help the gas move along. I found it more helpful than the gas x. I used raspberry, peppermint or chamomile tea. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My pain from the co2 was unbearable a times...I was in tears. Walked and did the incentive spirometer hourly throughout the day. Day 4 post-op I started to feel better. Today is day 5 and I feel almost "normal". Hang in there, I think the first 3 days are the worst.. KLSUMM 32 Posted April 3, 2016 Everyday is getting easier for sure as far as pain. The trick now is learning how to take small sips and not overload my new stomach. I'm not sure how everyone else feels but if I take to large of a drink it produces instant pain.
cat saaski 104 Posted April 3, 2016 This is my third day post op and I have been pretty uncomfortable as well. I have a couple of incision points that hurt upon standing and sitting and still some gas. The strips helped for gas but I don't care for the taste. sugar free Popsicles have helped to slowly get Fluid in. Can't go too fast so you don't get that discomfort like from drinking.
