Got my sleeve on 3/30

Recommended Posts

So i had my lap band removed after 5 years, too many issues. My surgeon removed all the scar tissue, (90 minutes to do that) and got sleeved. It's been so long I forgot how it feels. Finally home after one night in the hospital. Starting on liquids and have a drainage tube! So far so good! I would appreciate and info or tips from anyone. Also if anyone had a drainage tube can you prepare me for how it will feel when it comes out? Thanks!!!! I'm looking forward to this new journey!

I had no tube or the like so I've got no info there..

As far as 'info or tips' the entire site is full of them...

So my only tips are as follows...

- Don't be afraid to ask questions - in the forums or via PM.

- Remember that most of the info you get here is anecdotal and generally what has worked for that particular person - It may not work the same for you. For YOU specific information, talk to your medical team.

- Protein, Water, Protein, Water, protein, water...

Good luck to you...

I had revision to sleeve on the 30th as well! One night in the hospital and they took my drain out before I left. My surgeon said that is his preference and I was ok with that. As for the removal it didn't hurt necessarily but did surprise me. Felt it come out and it was longer than I realized. After a sharp intake of breath, due to the foreign feeling, I was fine. Hope your removal goes well!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
