Feeling alone on this journey

Recommended Posts

I am 5 weeks out today. I can totally relate. I still have hardly any energy to take a shower, fold laundry and cook for my family. I have hardly any cravings so it makes it hard to eat. I cant stomach Protein shakes or powder's of any kind.. Im just now starting to get my fluids down a little better. If its not my head being foggy its my stomach feeling gross and to top it off I have Thrush so my mouth feels like a sauna all the time... I have cried, I have stressed, I just have to keep telling myself it will pass UGH!!! I take Zofran for nausea but the taste it horrible! They also have me on an a pill for gurd, but that makes me dizzy! What a rollercoaster! I am loosing weight but at this point I don't care I just want to feel normal again!! Hang in there friend. Im here for you! It is helpful to know someone is in the same shoes as you are!

Actually I would love to feel normal again. I'm scared I'm not getting enough Protein in myself.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
