I GOT A SURGERY DATE!! WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

April 14th I'll be sleeved by Dr. Enrique Elli at mayo Clinic!

This seemed like the longest process ever.. started on January 4th, and now it's just two weeks away.

I start my Optifast liquid diet tomorrow. I know it'll be miserable, but I'm going to hold onto the idea that I don't care because I HAVE A DATE!!

I just met my surgeon last week. I go back for a follow up, nutrition counseling and the psychological next week.

I'm hoping to get a surgery date shortly after.

Best of luck to you!!

Congratulations! That's actually not that long really. I know a lot of people that have to go through a 6 month weight loss program before their insurance will pay. I started my journey meeting my surgeon in July, starting my weight loss program in late August and I am having my surgery finally on Friday April 1! That is nearly 9 months!

Very happy for you though!!

@@KELLIEDN I know it wasn't actually that long, not for a life-altering process. But it still seemed so to me :)

That's fantastic!!!!

Hang in there, the preop diet is truly the suckiest part of the whole process, especially when you just want to be done with all the "pre" song & dance and just want your surgery date to get here, already.

Honestly, now that I have my date I'm a lot calmer now. I have so much to do to prepare (work, school projects, finals, trip this weekend, my birthday, my side business), that I think I will be content these next two weeks. I am a planner!

Woohoo! I'm doing the happy dance for you as well! I'm just starting and am currently at my initial consultation. Hopefully I will be doing the same dance shortly for myself as well! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
