I had surgery last Monday the 16th of May. What kind of weight lose are you guys seeing in the first 2 weeks? My dr has me on a 1200 calorie diet post op including about 120 g of Protein. Not easy to drink two Enlive, and two Premier Protein shakes a day.

Wow! That's a lot of calories! My doctor wants me to get 800 calories and 60-80g of Protein. There is no way I could get that many calories in. I am 3 weeks out and I've lost 16 pounds

I had my surgery! Can't believe it!! All this waiting and it was finally here... Straight after surgery was horrendous, I was in so much pain from the gas it was almost unbearable, my boyfriend kept rubbing my back and they were giving me tons or morphine to ease it.. After a few hours it had subsided, it's still there but not hurting me anymore.

Managing to drink Water perfectly fine.. Mr surgeon said he thinks I'll be going home early as my surgery was textbook and my recovery is excellent.. He even came into my room to thank me for having an amazing liver and following the pre-op diet, apparently on the operating table they were in shock at just how clean it was haha.

I'm starting to feel 'hungry' now.. I'm not sure if that's in my mind though as my stomach isn't rumbling.. I think I'm just aware that I haven't eaten a thing in 48hrs! I've not been told what my calorie and Protein goals are yet but I'll tell y'all as soon as I know! Xx

Hi everyone, my surgery was May 20, so I am 7 days post op. I was on Clear liquids for the first 5 days. Yesterday I started full liquids which will last 2 weeks. I never knew creamed Soup could taste so good. Lol. There is not a lot of pain now, just when I twist or sit up too far. The only thing that concerns me is I have big red circles which are hard around my incisions. I am allergic to surgical glue and have been scratching around my incisions. So I don't know if it's that or something more serious. I saw the surgeon yesterday(mine is on vacation so it was a different surgeon) and he seemed to dismiss it.

one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time.

I was sleeved May 2nd - this has been the hardest process but best decision of my life! Through the most strict "diet" I've ever followed I only lost 30 lbs...since the start of my 2 weeks pre-op, I've lost 27 lbs. I've hit my "three week stall" but the inches are melting off! My mother in law was actually my inspiration for the surgery - she had it about 3 years ago and has lost 200+ lbs. so my husband had no worry and nothing but support for me when I told him this was what I was doing. Also, he gets home before me so does the majority of the cooking...it has been a really tough journey and the stall is disheartening but so far, no regret :) Best of luck to you all!!

I lost 28 lbs in the 5 weeks pre op based on the pre op diet. Surgery on May 16. I have lost 8 lbs since surgery and got my Blake drain out Tuesday morning and started walking that afternoon. I'm averaging 5-6 miles a day walking. I sure hope this works out for me. I guess I thought the weight would come off faster. I can't wait until I can have mushy food

I was also sleeved on 5/10. I lost 8lbs pre-op and 13 post-op but I'm at a stall. Started high Protein diet this week and I feel like I'm eating a ton. 3rd week diet plan is yogurt, cottage cheese, 2% cheese, eggs and nut butter. I have to eat a 4 "meals" a day (2oz - 3oz each) plus 2 premier Protein shakes a day. I end up eating approx 1000 calories a day and 110 grams of Protein. Seems like a ton. Doctor says to walk 30 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. No more and no less until 2 months post-op.

Glad to find some other May sleevers. Look forward to following your progress.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
