ashleypriv 11 Posted March 30, 2016 The pre op diet sucks major balls. Let me tell you. My surgery is tomorrow 3/30 and I had to do two weeks worth of Protein shakes and stuff. But it's going to help you lose weight, and make you a little healthier for surgery. I cheated on Easter and boy was that the wrong thing to do. It ran through me quicker then Hussain bolt. It did teach me though that this is the hardest part, bc you are still you and have these cravings but you can't let them win. It's helping you for after surgery too I believe, well I hope Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
melyssafaye 181 Posted March 30, 2016 Thank you all for the support! I have lost 10 lbs so that's good. I keep telling myself "I can eat whatever I want, but I choose not to" --- to remind myself I'm in control of food, it's not in control of me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App That's so great! I see so many people losing lots of weight during the liquid diet and I had hoped I would be the same. Unfortunately, I've been on the diet for 11 days and have lost 7 lbs. I haven't cheated at all ( although I really, really wanted to). I also work out a couple times a week with a physical therapist. Go figure. I'm bracing myself for being a slow loser after surgery.
KELLIEDN 11 Posted March 31, 2016 I guess all surgeons are different? My surgery is tomorrow and I have been on a full liquid diet since Saturday. But that includes light yogurt, plain oatmeal (with skim milk and truvia) and sugar free pudding....so at least I had some things that I felt filled me up and I could enjoy. Today is my only day of Clear liquids only. I can't imagine having to do today for 1 or 2 weeks. I totally feel for you!!
breezy25 69 Posted March 31, 2016 Yes all surgeons seem to be different. There's a lot of folks in my online FB group that can have one meal a day, or it's strictly calorie counting or low carb. I'm so jealous of those people! Lol. I have two days left of this and then two days of Clear Liquids (which I know will be hell) and then it's surgery day. I am trying to keep my eye on the prize! beinghappy2day 6 Posted April 3, 2016 I'm 5-1/2 years post op and STILL have the weight off. So, take my advice on this. As bad as this sucks, the "break down" stage (liquid diet, I could eat a shoe) is important. Try to focus on sticking with it because your brain will trick your body into thinking you are hungry after the surgery. The liquid stage is such an important step. It sounds crazy but the stage that I flipped out on was soft foods. I was frustrated by then! Hang in there. You will get there.
