Low BMIers - what do your macros look like?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have started working out again. 5-6 days a week with pretty intense one hour "Bootcamp" type classes or spin classes.

Like most, I'm experiencing a stall. I stalled in February. Had a fantastic loss when I was on vacation, and been stalled again since.

I've read other threads about what others are eating, but being a "shortie" and having only about 15-20 lbs to goal I know I need to be more strict. That being said, I also know that if you're working out frequently, sometimes you stall because you're not eating enough!

I'm 5'1 and weigh 130. Just wondering if any other low BMIers can share what their macro goals -- fat, Protein, carbs -- are to help them keep losing weight.

I know I need to track more religiously but my calories are usually around 800-900. I try to keep my net carbs below 40. Minimum protein 60, but usually aim for more.

I know some will say increase my calories, but being a "smaller" individual I know my BMR is much lower than say a 6' man.

Thanks for any input!

ive never agreed with the eat more to lose more, advice neither is my nut, he trains marathon and ultra marathon and triathletes, if you are o be in a losing phase its important to stay hydrated and keep your Protein and Vitamins up. but never recommends taking in extra calories simply because you work harder. Try varying your workout times, if its possible, i know many of us cant. also be sure you arent eating later at night, and eating maybe some straight Protein like a shake or mugcake at night as the overnight protein keeps the fires burning whie you sleep etc. youll get through it.

@@Stevehud what the heck is mugcake?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

a mugcake is a Protein shake variant that eats instead of being drank.

Most of use use Syntrax matrix brand Protein powder ( you can use any Protein Powder that has egg albumen in the ingredients)with anywhere from a 1/8th to 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and for me i use sugar free coffee Creamer ( italian sweet creme works best for me but you can use almond milk or whatever you wish) and you mix until thick then microwave for 45 seconds to a minute and it makes a cake like consistency kinda like a thicker bread pudding kind of. or molten lava cake type thing. ill get you the video i made of it and is in the video section here. ill post it in a sec

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
