Anyone else use an Instant Pot or other electric pressure cooker?

Recommended Posts

I just bought myself a new toy: An Instant Pot. I've been eyeing them for several months, especially as we'll be tackling a kitchen remodel soon. It occurred to me that there is likely no easier way to make Proteins sleeve-friendly than by pressure cooking them. I can't wait to start playing with it once it gets here Thursday.

Any tips or tricks out there? Thinking I'll do something with chicken thighs first.

I got one and it is great. I just use Internet to find recipes. Hip pressure cooking is a great site and there is a cook book called the same that I got off Amazon. Tend to use it for Soups and stews and meat based recipes, never tried puds or rice in it but forums say it is great for both of them. Only 2 of us in house so I usually cook a recipe and freeze half so I have plenty in freezer for days I'm busy.

I'm in UK and electric pressure cookers are not too common here but they are catching on. I too thought long and hard before buying but so glad I did.

I have an instant pot and it is the best! I have used it at least twice a day since I bought it. Look up Chef AJ - her cooking is all about weight loss and using the instant pot. I even got my sister to buy one, she lives in the UK, and she loves hers too..

I use a crockpot a few times a month, this looks very interesting. We also have a cruddy old rice cooker that has been a reliable appliance and it seems this would replace both.

Any tips on which features are important? I saw on Amazon they have one that is bluetooth enabled... i have a hard time fathoming that I would use my phone to cook dinner... so I think I will pass on that... unless it can go shopping and load the pot up too...haha!

I have a power pressure cooker xl. It's no where near as efficient as my stove top canner/pressure cooker was, but it gets the job done eventually I! LOL I use it more as a crock pot than the pressure cooker since it took as long to pressure cook a chicken as it does to roast one in the oven. If you are going to get one, I hear instapot makes a good one.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
