missvee 28 Posted March 29, 2016 How did everyone deal with having to cook for the family before and after surgery? I cook every single day! My husband can barely cook rice or season ANY type of meat without making it unbearably salty so even though he tries, I choose to do it. It's just easier that way. Did the meals change for the family as well or do you cook for yourself and then them too? I'm not sure how to go about it. Megall9 268 Posted March 29, 2016 I am pre op, but still cooking for my family. If I'm making Pasta or something that I don't want to eat I'll just cook something else for myself. Sometimes it's hard, but at the same time rewarding because I see them looking at my meal, and asking what is in it, and asking to try it. I like that they are "branching out" and wanting to try my food. After surgery I may get to a point where we are all eating the same thing because they like "my" food. cindyw41 761 Posted March 29, 2016 My husband is a fit junk food junkie.. The only vegetables he will eat are corn & potatoes.. Pre op we basically ate the same thing Post op:: I cook the main meat of the meal for all of us. My healthy sides mixed with his not so healthy choices. The thing is, I usually don't get much of the sides in after eating the meat.
Cutepretty1 121 Posted April 3, 2016 I try to find a balance if I bake potatoes for them I will bake me a sweet potatoe. I purchased several aluminum pans for my meat as I do not use the same seasoning on my food. I usually cook steamed veggies in which we can all eat. It has become part of the daily routine and not hard to balance at all. Thankfully my family does not eat a lot of fried foods.
