KtAnnette 0 Posted March 29, 2016 I really need help. I just started a new job and it's time to sign up for my insurance. Called the company to see if my insurance will cover surgery snd they say I have no bariatric services. Is there anyone out there that knows any other way to get help to pay for surgery? I need this for myself and I can't pay it out of pocket. I'm so upset because when I started HR said they thought it was something I'd be able to get. So I had my hopes up. pegrae 88 Posted March 29, 2016 I can relate to your frustration, I too have insurance with no bariatric benifits, Check with your surgeons to see if they offer discounts and with your local hospital foundations to see if they can help financially. Be sure your HR knows this is not an option and not to tell others it might be. If you work for a health care facility they may offer an employee discount. Good luck. I am selling quilts to pay for mine.

GBaygurl 29 Posted March 29, 2016 I work in the insurance industry so I kind of can help. What exactly does your benefits say related to Bariatric Services? Like some will say Bariatric Services And Related Treatment Covered etc.?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
alyharwell 13 Posted March 29, 2016 My insurance doesn't cover Bariatric Services either, but because my BMI is higher than normal they overrode my plan and it is covered. Check with your PCP to see if they can put in a referral to see if they will cover it. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
KtAnnette 0 Posted March 30, 2016 I'm not sure what it says exactly. I just know we called the other day to see if it was covered an she said that my company didn't add any bariatric services to our insurance. excitedforweightloss 40 Posted April 2, 2016 Many hospital offer a big discount for uninsured patients. The hospital I work add gives an 85% discount for the facility charges. The surgeon charges I have no clue about because nine is covered by my plan. Sent from my SM-N900V using the BariatricPal App
