Just now jumping in here because I had the sleeve on 3/28. I feel okay mostly, just sore but I am really struggling with getting in my liquids. I feel like I am going to float away from effort. How in the world could you possibly get 64 oz down in a day is beyond me!

My sleeve was on 3/28/16 . Im having a hard time getting anything down and keeping it there but each day gets a lil better. Unfortunately for me, my hospital stay will be a little more lengthy than others. Because of my mitral valve replacement im on blood thinners which caused me to be admitted on 3/25/16 to thicking my blood up before surgery. Now im waiting for it to thin back out before i can return home.

No way I can get all the liquids in. For me when I swallow I'm ok until I feel it hit my sleeve or intestines who knows which. But it's about half a second after I swallow. It's keeping me from drinking more. Even tiny sips feel the same just not as painful.

I too am having a hard time even getting close to my liquid goal. sleeping all the time doesn't help but does ease the pain a bit. I still am having spasms that I can even feel in my back. It's hard to tell when I'm full because I'm so sore. I think I'm feel when I feel like I have to burp but cant. Jello is my friend right now even though it takes me a couple sittings to get it all down. We really can't hold much. New life...

My spasms are my upper stomach area and go around to my back. Lifting my arms or tapping on my chest seems to help. At least that's what I make myself believe.

I had the roux-en-y on 3/29. I also had my gallbladder removed. The first 36 hours were very, very tough, but I've been improving steadily since then. I only spent one night in the hospital and my husband was nervous about me going home so soon. It was quick, but I really couldn't rest there at all! Too many interruptions and the IV made noise al night. It was much better in the reclining couch at home. Now that I've turned that wicked corner, I can say it's not too bad. I'm fortunate in that I haven't had the gas pain - air is coming out both ends. LOL. I'm able to drink the Water and close to getting it all in. Closer not that I'm awake more. I'm only on Tylenol for pain and it's managed okay. I've had broth with Protein powder, applesauce, Protein shakes. Going well so far. Now to heal, rest and follow the rules! Good luck everyone!

We are still swollen. Therefore the air sitting in our stomach etc has to go out when liquid goes in. This is exactly like home house plumbing. Imagine trying to empty a large jug of milk. Pop the top and it lurches out. Make a hole in the top for air to move through and it pours out faster and smoother. Same here. We must eat drink slow to allow for the air and liquid to pass each other in our swollen esophagus stomach etc. as the swelling goes down it gets easier every day. And WALK! sleeping and sitting all day is making recovery longer!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
