Agreed! Just put my ham in the oven. But seeing as I'm on my preop liquid diet I won't be having any!! Happy Easter :)

Omg. I can't even take the smell. I'm day 5 on the liquid diet for the op tomorrow along with having to take the magnesium citrate. I was fine until the fam started cooking. Now I'm just locked in my room but everytime I run to the bathroom I smell ham in the hallway. Lol What a nightmare! 16 hours and counting. Ugh

I'm 17 days postop and having a rough time keeping things down. We're skipping our usual holiday gathering because I'm sure being around food will make me nauseous!

I had no idea there was such a thing as "Easter holy food."

Hallowed ham? Holy chocolate bunnies? Deviled eggs (but with a name like that, maybe not)?

I promise it will get better. I was you at Christmas time. I was sleeved 12/14/15 and couldn't have solids yet. Made a full turkey dinner for my family but ate yogurt for Christmas dinner.! I actually enjoyed my Easter dinner today, in very very small portions. Next holiday you will too! It will be different, portions are smaller and sweets will probably be avoided. With 2 small children I have a house full of candy but with sleeve power I haven't ate it!

@@ocgirl15, thank you for your kind reply. I'm certain things will get better, and the funny thing about holidays has always been that I'm so busy cooking that I do very little eating. I do always enjoy a deviled egg or two on Easter, though.

Deviled eggs are a great choice for bariatric patients! You won't have wait till next Easter either!

Yeah, I think I can look forward to a deviled egg before I can a bite of ham!

One of my favorites at Thanksgiving is a bite of ham with a bite of turkey, same fork. Something to look forward to!

I'm waiting approval from my insurance but so stinking ready. I ate too much again but kinda used the excuse that it was last big holiday to splurge. Exactly why I'm getting this done. Too many excuses!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
