Can't Afford Surgery or an Insurance Company To Pay

Recommended Posts

Hello, Everyone

I'd gotten so depressed because I can't afford to pay for WLS nor either an Insurance Company in my state that covers it. I decided to hire and Nutritionist/Personal Trainer, at a price I can afford. I've cut out sugar and carbs, and as a result, I've lost 12 pounds, in six days!!! I pray that I will have success in trying to lose weight. I pray that everyone reaches their goals!!!!! I want to lose a total of 115 pounds!!! Please share your thoughts.

You can do this! Good that you caught it now before it was 200 pounds. Best Wishes!

Hi shorty....... I feel your pain and disappointment. I can't understand why all insurance companies don't cover WLS considering the many lives it saves. I also have been told by my insurance company I do not have coverage for WLS. The epidemic of obesity in our country will never be controlled unless the insurance companies understand the benefit of WLS instead of worrying about their bottom line. One thing that puzzles me is that Medicaid covers WLS.... Too bad I can't benefit from a surgery that I'm helping pay for. Good luck to you in your efforts. Everyone on this site knows that struggle..... Each and every day!

All insurance companies cover WLS, it is the group that creates your plan to decide what is covered. Generally it is your employer. If you can make a case that you will save money on meds you may want to talk to your HR dept and see if you can get them to make an exception. I don't think this happens very often, but it might be worth a try before giving up.
