Changed2016 27 Posted March 26, 2016 Hello! I'm a newbie to the site and have really enjoyed reading everyone's questions, experiences and comments. I have met with my coordinator and scheduled to meet with the Bariatrician April 6th. Hoping to have my surgery in June. (I'm a self pay) I have a question that I haven't found yet. How soon after gastric sleeve surgery can you sleep on your stomach? That's my favorite sleeping position. KindaFamiliar 3,867 Posted March 26, 2016 I think I was on my stomach after just a couple of nights back in my own bed... No matter how hard you try, if you're a natural stomach-sleeper, that's where you end up... I would just try to fall asleep on my back or side and just wake up on my stomach... As there was no pain, I just let it go...

shriner37 249 Posted March 26, 2016 I slept the first two nights in a recliner, then was able to move to the bed. I had some discomfort when rolling over or moving too much for the first couple of weeks. It was mostly pain around the one large incision, and took a couple weeks to fully resolve. Sophie74656 1,572 Posted March 26, 2016 Im a stomach sleeeper too. The only way i could sleep without incision pain was at a 45 degree angle in our recliner for about a week Im a stomach sleeeper too. Valentina 2,642 Posted March 26, 2016 I had a stash of pillows waiting for me at home, because I, too am a belly sleeper and was anticipating a problem. With the pillows placed here, tucked there, under this, supporting that --all was well in dreamland. We belly sleepers are a stubborn lot, aren't we?
excelsior1 4 Posted March 26, 2016 I side/stomach sleeper, meaning I look like I'm climbing rocks. I had many concerns about a lot of things that were really unwarranted. I didn't know if I could bend over to tie my shoes, wash my feet, pick up anything and so on. Fact is, we are all different and you will have your own experiences but you will be able to do a lot of things normally, including sleeping on your stomach. Probably has a little to do with the surgeons technique as well.

Fame 53 Posted March 29, 2016 sleeping on my stomach wasn't my issue. It was getting up from bed after laying down.. Trying to use my abdominal muscles to get up was pretty painful for me. But actually laying on my abdomen felt great. I would say it took at least 10-14 days for my abdomen to not hurt when trying to get up.
shrinking_chuckles 2 Posted August 11, 2016 I am 1 week post op and haven't slept properly since surgery due to sleeping on back but being a tummy sleeper. I try every night to just roll over but feel the tugging on my big incision as I guess my fat roll pulls on it! I really want to sleep properly again soon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

QueenOfTheTamazons 634 Posted October 14, 2016 I am a side sleeper, sometimes a 3/4 sleeper. I use a sobakawa cloud pillow ($20 at BBB) tucked into my side to support my tummy. It has helped alot because it forms around lumps and bumps without too much pressure HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/
