Almost 4 weeks out and stalled

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on March 1st, and went in weighing 304. At my one week (March 10th) checkup I weighed in at 276. Now I go on March 31st and the scale hasn't budged. I'm getting almost 60oz of Water per day and have struggled getting the Protein but it's better. I might be reaching close to 50g per day now. I returned to work this last Monday on the 21st and they've been so accommodating with shorter shifts since we are on our feet the whole time (with very few breaks).

The scale hasn't budged since my one week post-op check in and it worries me. Also, the last week when I switched to adding some purréd foods, I spent a lot of time being sick... Really sick... Sick enough to call the surgeon and get anti-nausea medication after switching back to clear and full liquids.

Has anyone else experienced this? Sick and the scale doesn't move? Thanks.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience periodic stalls and almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program.

Track your food.

Get in AT LEAST 64 oz of liquid a day.

Focus on reaching your Protein target every day. The sooner you can get in ALL of your Protein the better for both healing and weight loss.

Take all of your Vitamins and supplements as instructed.

Exercise when cleared.

And, stay off the scale.

Embrace the Stall!

Everyone is different! Just follow your educational guidelines that your NUT supposed to give you when you were first in the class. Did you record what kind of foods/drink/how much grams of carbs/proteins into your log book?

I have been recording and it's only lately I've been able to come close to the goals they set. I think I'm worrying cause I need to be in one-derland before the end of August. (Vacation and cruise)

You lost 28 pounds in 9 days. Even if 28 pounds ends up being your 30 day total, that is a ton of weight.

Stop weighing yourself and focus on meeting your Protein and calorie goals.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
