First movie post surgery

Recommended Posts

My poor kid is the oldest of his friends so I finally said "lets go" because he wanted to see deadpool. He's 17 and I was not worried about him seeing it, but it is NOT a kids movie. Just going to say I have finally found my favorite super hero.

I decided I could have a little popcorn, no butter. I have been craving it and haven't allowed myself. I have officially found my slider food. I honestly don't know how much I really had and I'm ashamed I did not stop at the approx 1 cup I had promised myself. I never really felt overly full and literally had to make my son move it out of my reach.

I'm not beating myself up or going to dwell, just live and learn.

That's what it's all about: learning.

Yep, I can eat an embarrassing amount of popcorn. Sometimes, I bring one of those microwave bags in my purse so I won't eat the movie popcorn.

I'm so happy I hate popcorn. It's never been an issue for me at the movies. Since surgery, I just sip on a chai tea latte (Yes, my theator has a coffee place) during the movie and that's my treat. The little bit of sweetness keeps me from wanting the candy!

Funny, we went to a movie last night. I'm still on Clear liquids, mind you. I never, ever, ever get popcorn at the movies. Yet, I was thinking "Gee, it would be nice to have some popcorn some day".

Being on liquids too long can definitely mess with your head!

I'm lucky, I love the smell of the popcorn, but have no desire to eat it. Now candy on the other hand..........much bigger temptation.

I'm my honest opinion, the head hunger was by far the worst part of this whole thing. I was wanting foods I didn't even particularly like just because I wanted to CHEW something!

One of my rules for myself is that I never do ANYTHING else when I eat something. I portion it, write it down, eat it sitting at a table-really being present in the moment. then, and only then, do I do something else. I used to love popcorn and a movie, but I could mindlessly polish off the bucket 'o corn. I could probably drink a quart of Water over the course of a 2 1/2 hour movie, that I will mindlessly do. My biggest thrill at the movie theater now is that I FIT in the seats.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
