I am three weeks in recovery now and my INR is high (i.e. medication is making my blood too thin). I'm told that this may be due to my losing weight so rapidly. The hospital clinic are reducing my Warfarin dose. Has any body else had this problem?

INR is nothing to mess around with, it can be serious. I did not come home on any blood thinner...only 2 shots in the hospital. What was the level?

I've been on Warfarin for about 9 years & they like me to be between 2.0 & 3.0. I have not had any issues with my INR with the weight loss. Anytime I have a medical procedure or dental work I have to come off of my Warfarin for 3 to 5 days & I have to give myself shots every 12 hours until the day of the procedure. Then I go right back on my Warfarin. With my sleeve surgery I had to give myself shots for 3 days until my Warfarin kicked in. When I go out of my target range I'm not sure what causes it but my cardiologist just adjusts my dosage for a day or two & then I come right back into my range. I am almost 2 years out so you would think my INR would be steady. It isn't. This past Friday it was 3.7. I get checked every 2 to 4 weeks so I will be checked again in 2 weeks. I've even had my INR drop to 1.4. There doesn't seem to be any reason for these fluctuations. I did this before surgery & still do it. I just watch what I eat that has Vitamin K such as dark green vegetables (brussel sprouts, broccoli, kale, etc). The joke around my house is they won't let me use knives.

Why are taking coumadin? Blood Clot? A-Fib?

No I don't have a mechanical valve. I have a couple of issues, AFIB is one of them. I take Atenolol & Flecinide for it & weight loss hopefully will help. I also had a blood clot after a hysterectomy. Hope I never have another one. Spent a week in the hospital hooked up to heparin & antibiotics.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
