I was sleeved on 9/30/15 at my highest weight of 205. As of yesterday I've lost 50 lbs and am down to 153.8. I still have 27 pounds to go to reach my goal and I'm hoping I get there by my one year surgiversary. Even as a kid I remember being too self conscious to wear shorts. I ventured into the juniors department at Belk today and tried on these pink scallop shorts. I'm still not 100 % comfortable in them but I'm hoping I will be by summertime :) Sometimes the number on the scale doesn't move and sometimes it's so easy to get discouraged. Celebrating non-scale victories helps me keep everything in perspective. What are YOUR favorite NSVs?

Nothing wrong with those legs. :D

The cab of my car seems to be miraculously growing.

You look great. I wish I looked like that, the skin hangs so far down it's gross, but very grateful for my sleeve and my 90lb weight loss. My biggest nsv, i think is fitting into booths that I could not fit into last year.

I've noticed my skin getting kind of loose on my legs and arms. I think I'm just not far enough along yet for it to be as bad as it could be. I try not to worry about it too much even though it does get to me sometimes. Your NSV is a great one! Congrats on 90 lbs gone :)

I'm hoping that once the loose skin becomes an issue for me, that I'll be able to twirl around reaaaaaaaly fast and take off like a helicopter.

If nothing else it's an excuse to go out in a field, act silly, and giggle at myself because my brain is about 5.

You look fabulous! We both have similar starting weights (mine was 210) and I am Slightly annoyed that I have lost about 22lbs and still no change in pants size. They are loose but still not enough to go down to the next size. Must be losing in my fingers and toes :)

I think I lost 30 lbs before I dropped a pants size. So frustrating!

You guys both look great in shorts. I've always worn shorts because my legs were thin, just not my tummy. I've been out looking for new shorts in my size and it is fun trying them on and looking in the mirror. I wish I could say the same about bathing suits but with a flat butt they don't look so good. I don't think all the squats in the world could ever give me a normal butt.

Rock those shorts this summer, I'm sure you will get lots of compliments.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
