4 weeks out, stalled

Recommended Posts

I had vsg surgery on Feb 29th in Tijuana, Mexico. Everything was fine. I lost 15 lbs on my 2 week pre op diet, then 7 the first week. Then 3, and now the scale hasn't been moving. For 2 weeks now. Im eating very few carbs, trying to get all my Water, but only getting about half. I'm getting all the recommended Protein, (60-80 g daily). Haven't been able to exercise much. Only walking on weekends. Anyone else have a stall this early on? How did you break it?

I'm very discouraged. I'm eating healthy (solids now), but I'm just not seeing the results I was hoping for.

I've been in a stall for the past two months. Realizing I wasn't doing 100% what I should've I can understand why it haven't moved much of any in a way but seems like it would've moved more. I have started exercising I'm on my 3rd wk 4-5 days out the wk. I've been told to get out the stall to go back to basics[emoji16]haven't done that trying to focus on eating nothing but listed foods, getting in all my water[emoji30]and getting in all my Protein along with exercise and see if the scale moves...good luck it can be aggravating and questionable when you're not getting results or results you feel like you should but remain focused and make changes where necessary

Welcome to the "Dreaded Week 3 Stall". 90% of WLS patients experience a stall around the 3rd week post-op. It's just your body taking a minute to figure out what the heck is going on. Stick to your plan. Get your Water. Get your Protein. Take your Vitamins. Move around as much as possible. The scale will start moving again,

You're not alone. It's been one month since surgery (Feb. 23rd) and I lost in the first 17 days, and then only 2 lbs since. And it's not moving. How long does the stall usually last? Because 3 weeks has become 4 weeks.

Hang in there. For some people it can last a little while. Just keep doing what you need to do. I promise you the scale will move again if you stick to the program.

My week three stall lasted for 15 days. Finally started losing again at a good pace. Hang in there!

Three and a half weeks for me and lasted about 2-1/2 weeks. I wasn't worried, because I knew it was a good possibility, with all the reading I was doing here. It doesn't mean it is not frustrating. scale is moving again!

Are you tracking your food intake? In order to know that you aren't inadvertently doing something that is exacerbating the stall I think that tracking everything that goes in your mouth is very important.

Yes, I plan and track on my fitness pal. Tomorrow is two weeks since surgery. Just feel like my body is fighting it, but doing everything right. I'm going to be patient. I'm inly getting in about 600 calories, but reaching my Protein and Water intake daily. I have the faith.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
