So walk...

Get yourself a regimen...

Eat properly...

Take your Vitamins...

Only you can do it...

It certainly aint gonna do itself...

And it aint rocket surgery...

EDIT - I hate when the 'v' word becomes a live link...

I had a hard time with exercise in the beginning but I had to make the choice to get up and going. I didn't really do much but walk a little here and there for the first three months after surgery. Then over the last three months I have gotten to where I exercise six days a week and if I don't my body misses it. Additionally I lose more when I exercise on a regular basis.

I worked a 17 hour work day yesterday and came home and took my wife out for what I hoped would be a date afternoon.

I still got my gym time in.

Going to my job now for a four hour meeting on my day off.

After this I have an appointment scheduled with my pain management Doctor for more spine injections.

I will still get my gym time in.

You can find the energy if you really want to.

You can do anything if you really want to.

Only you have the power to fix this. None of us can force you to move more. I can tell you what has worked for me. I work out after work every day. As soon as I walk in the door from work, I change into my workout clothes instead of my pajama. Then I head down to my basement where I workout on my treadmill, stationary bike, or do strength training. Only after that will I change into pajamas and figure out what to do about dinner, etc. Once you are into a routine, it's much easier to do, because it becomes automatic.

PS: Take your vitamins! That's probably part of the reason you don't have enough energy. Why aren't you taking them?

Can you change the way you get to and from work? Just my commute and a day at my desk job puts me at 12000 steps.

I also do Jillian Michael's shred and shed (??) video each morning at 5am. It only takes 20 minutes. I sleep in my workout gear and leave my runners by the bed so I put them on as soon as I wake so I have no excuses :)

Blimey you lot, you put me to SHAME!!!! I thought that walking my three mutts for about an hour and a half and swimming half a mile at 7am each morning was doing me good. Hmmmmm......Bit of a re-think needed me thinks. Seriously though, ex-ballerina (and before you lot say it 'barrellina') I've got a new left hip (just over a year new) arthritic knees, and a lower spine that is completely knackered. However, just checked my Shine and I'm doing anywhere between 10,000 and 18,000 steps, including the swim, per day. I have found though that I am sleeping much more and having really restful sleep which seems to be doing me good. I'm not good at getting out of my pit early in the morning (being an old theatrical luvie) as old habits die hard but even on a dreary British Monday at the crack of sparrow fart when it is pissing down with rain I bite the bullet and get my butt into our local pool. I have got company-a very lithe 19 year old friend-who as she speeds past me in the Water gets reminded that I am 40 years older than her but still going!!!!!!! I'm loving the fact that friends are commenting on how my walking has improved insofar as I am now moving much faster and with a normal gait. I have a little card attached to my notice board that catches my eye every time I pass it. It has the letters J F D I on it. Just F*€$£%*g Do It. Gives me the requisite kick up the arse that I need. Oh yes, that and some gloriously expensive designer cowboy boots that still won't quite go up my calves. I'm loving the fact that this old carcass of mine is having a much easier life now since I took the plunge, got sleeved and did what was suggested. What's not to like? Win, win I'd say.

Well said.

Routine fitness is best approach for me, too. Just do it without thought.

Another good way to get into a routine is to take a class. For me, I am more likely to do something, especially if it is something new, if I take a class where I have to be at a specific place at a specific time.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
