Major Hairloss..Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

We were told to get 1000-1200 calories daily. At our support group they said to do 1000 one day, 1100 the next (fooling the body), but not to make it the same amt everyday. I think that every doctor might be a little different, but from I've been reading the advice is real close to being the same.

Stephanie, that makes as much, actually more sense than anything else I have read. Upon thinking about it, I have heard many older women (read as older than me!!!!) complain of thinning hair when menopause starts. That really could be an avenue to consider. Have any of you been on anything such as birth control pills or something of the sort that would regulate hormones more? Interesting thought......thanks!

Kat

I asked my doctor about it, and he said it starts at 4 months ( and that's when mine started) and usually ends at 9 months. He told me in about a month, I would stop losing handfuls of hair every day. I will be so happy if

that is true.

AND you can bet I will tell everyone here.

Hey guys, My doctor told me that the weight loss will cause hormonal changes and this is the reason for the hair loss, not the lack of Vitamins or Protein. Maybe a ob/gyn md might be able to advise on this if itis truly hormonal. Stephz:)

Makes sense to me.

You know, I know someone that is a bit of an expert in hormones. I do believe I'll send him a link to this post and beg on bended knee to respond.

Dr. Mike??? Are you out there?

(he isn't, he's likely never heard of this forum before but I'll send an email right now)

hair loss has many reasons, there is male pattern balding that has to to with DHT dihydrotestosterone, which kills the hair root eventually, and there is a female pattern which has to do with a loss of progesterone.

To treat the male pattern you use DHT inhibitors, and for the ladies, you first check the free progesterone level in blood, and give therapy when there is a low level.

Now, Hair loss can be traumatic, due to infections, due to poor circulation, but the main type is hormonal, and is so easy to treat.

That is the type that affects so many women, who leave so much hair in the bathroom, on combs and brushes, and almost never know why.

Now, if that helps, someone let me know. I mean, I was asked here.

Thanks.

Dr. Mike...

Thanks!

Everyone, Dr. Mike is a good friend of mine. He's doing my own hormone replacement therapy. I'm going to give it a shot. He drew the labs last week and he's a GEM! I adore this man!

He was born in England, raised in Barbados, trained as an MD in Mexico, and practices in Nogales. Quite well rounded.

His claim to fame is bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.

Dr. Mike.. according to a new poll so far about 50% of us are losing anywhere from some to 50% of our hair. Help??

Thanks!

:welcome: Dr. Mike!

Thanks Wasa for getting us such an awesome specialist. I am only 3 weeks out, but i know this will affect me at some point, and it would be great if I could go to my doctors with some expert data.

Susan,

Another Coos County person here. I will be banded 09/20 by Dr Tersigni.

I am concerned about loosing my hair. I hope it won't be so bad that I might have to buy a wig. My hair isn't that thick to start out with, any more. I've lost alot before on the Atkins and an herbal diet. They were only diets where I lost over 60 lbs. (of course it's back plus more)

Are you going to the support group at NBMC, too. I hope to go sometime to meet Denise and maybe you.

God bless,

Charlene

Dr. Mike,

Thank you for the advice. I have a questin though. Does this still hold true for those of us that are well past Menapause? I lot of those that complained about loosing hair are in their sixties.

God bless, Charlene

Charele, It applies mostly to the lack of hormones in those who have passed that age. What you have to do is: Check your free levels of estradiol, progesterone, DHEA and testosterone. Then you can write me at michael.white@prodigy.net.mx, I give the results to Dr. Nyan Patel, of Central Drugs, La Habra Ca, and he sends your kit, tailor made according to your results. We can continue, to communicate, and you can also call me at 520 631 7568 during office hours. Hope I was of some assistance.

Kat 817, be careful, there are risks when using pills which do not have the dose you need. The best therapy, is one made individually, which makes it certain of zero risks, and only benefits. Taking that type of pill when there is a hormonal lack, is like shooting in the dark. You may aim too high, or you may go too low. That is risky. very risky.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
