Premiere Protein drinks

Recommended Posts

I was curious if any of you post op people have had problems drinking this particular shake. A FB group I just joined was saying it was the wrong type of Protein & suggested it can cause dumping. Yet Kaiser's bariatric pgm highly recommends it. Just curious if this is just a certain group bashing other drinks in order to sell their's or if it's truly not the best option. Thanks.

I use it and love it. At 9 1/2 months post-op, I still drink one everyday and have had no issues with it. It is recommended a lot on this site.

I am pre surgery. I drink it every morning, and have a friend several years out (RNY) that uses it as Breakfast. I also have a closer friend that had her RNY surgery on 12/31, and her doctor recommends it.

My doctor, however, does not recommend it. Go figure.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do about that though (LOL). I will buy some of the shakes he recommends (Bariatric Pal and Chike), and since I've read so many times that your tastes change, maybe I won't even like Premier Protein after surgery...

I am approaching 3 years out and normally have one every day. Has never caused dumping for me. Highly recommended by my Bariatric Clinic.

I've almost 2 months post-op, I drink it daily usually (morning snack) and never had dumping. And my nutritionist says it's fine to use.

That's so strange. But I guess everyone is different.

Thanks everyone. That's what I thought. That site is hosted by a company that sells bariatric products & the admins want to push their products. I know my tastes will change after but for now I like them.

It's not recommended by some nutritionist (including mine) because it is a Protein blend. My NUT wants the first ingredient to be whey Protein whereas Premier's first ingredient is "protein blend".

I think it depends on the person. My wife had her RNY in January of this year and she can't tolerate it; however, as you can see in the comments, many are fine with it.

It didn't cause dumping and won't, BUT it did taste really aweful and the taste was so bad post op, that I couldn't make myself drink it without heaving.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
