OMG! I'm so happy to have found you lol! I started the process and then had an insurance change and had to switch surgeons. So now I'm going to their practice. Most of my stuff should transfer right over and I shouldn't have to start from scratch. I go tonight to the seminar. How long did it take you to get a surgery date from when you went to the seminar.

Best of luck to you tomorrow. You'll do fantastic! I can't wait to hear from you on the sleeve side lol

I've been working on this for a while. I went to one of the seminars late 2014. First went to see Dr Ewing last May. I needed to get the six month documentation. Had that finished in January and here we go. At this point I'm ready to be done. Hopefully in tomorrow out Friday, onward and upward. We'll see

Good luck with the insurance. It can be kind of a pain. They same to be pretty quick with surgery dates (about 4 weeks). I was originally set for 3/10 but it would have been hard to get the pre op stuff done on time. Enjoy the session. Make sure to ask questions.

Similar story on my end. I started in 2014 too I actually got approved very quickly then the same week I got approved I found out I pregnant with our little surprise lol so obviously I had to postpone. Then started back in February then insurance didn't take my other surgeon out of net work and now I'm starting with Ewing they were recommended and in my plan. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Lol good luck tomorrow. You will do wonderful!

I had Dr. Ewing perform my surgery on September 25th. I'm extremely happy with him and his entire staff. They will help you every step of the way and are always there for any questions you have. I went to the seminar in April and was originally scheduled for surgery in August but was delayed because of some cardio tests I needed to get done. Good luck!!

Thanks Diane! Are you also happy with their "after care" they stressed that in the seminar how you have lifetime free nutritionist etc. I left the seminar very happy. Had a nice chat with him after the seminar and he seams fantastic I'm looking forward to what lies ahead! Thanks so much for your feedback!

Yes I'm also happy with their aftercare. After the surgery you see the doctor for a few visits and they also have a class at their office with the nurse and nutritionist to tell you exactly what to eat and they answer any questions you have. You can also call anytime with questions and they get right back to you. After my surgery I had so many questions and their nurse was always there to answer them. So far I'm very satisfied with Dr. Ewing and his staff.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
