Has anyone else had this happen to them

I don't have loads of weight to to lose ( low BMI ) but have always struggled to lose the weight successfully and I don't want my weight to continue to where I feel I have to have this done I robably need to lose around 3 stone maybe a bit more at the moment

So I booked my surgery for this summer / paid for my flight and combining it with a holiday as I'm travelling long way

Literally from the time I booked and paid the for it ( Thursday last week ) I have totally lost my hunger I mean seriously lost my appetite . This has never ever happened in 20 years of dieting

I'm not picking at food jusr eating what I eat and nothing more

Since Thursday I've lost 3lbs which is crazy as I have been trying to lose a extra holiday 10 lbs since January with no success

The only thing I have drastically changed is I'm no longer drinking. diet coke & fizzy mineral Water I have switched to drinking still bottled water and that's it

I have no cravings for anything sweet. Nothing else has changed at all

It's weird because for once I actually feel in control of my food & eating habits but have no idea why

It's not nerves for me - if it'is thought I will be a size 00 as my surgery isn't till August

I'm combining it with a 10 day trip to San Deigo and then 6 days in Tijuana for surgery as I've never been to the states before

I thought I was going crazy but I'm literally not hungry at all which is so so unlike me

I wouldn't cancel the trip just yet. I think the excitement of getting surgery scheduled gives you a boost and makes you want to jump start that diet. It may not last long term. Most people either react in one of two ways before surgery; loose weight by starting to diet before the surgery, or gain because they want to eat all of their favorite foods before they can't any longer. Hopefully you are in the first group. I lost 18 pounds between my first visit with the surgeon and my surgery date. Now 5 mos post op I still have cravings for sugar and have to work really hard to stay on track.

Hope everything goes well for you and good luck with your decision.

I agree with the above message. I thought I would be eating everything I could get my hands on before surgery. It was the exact opposite. It was like 'okay, I've got my mind around this and it's going to happen....I didn't do anything to sabotage it or make it worse. When I look back, it was a bit surreal. I think your feelings are normal. :-)

I won't cancel it but I can't afford to lose to much weight as im a low BMI so don't have loads of wiggle room with my weight

As it is now im fine but if I were to lose a stone or more thrn I would be border line for having it done I think

But as ive never lost a stone without killing myself first on bootcamps I don't think it will happen any time soon

I just found it weird because im really not hungry but have never ever had that before

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
