Hey I'm new here.

Problem is ... I had my surgery in 2004 and was able to lose 50 lbs ... after a lot of struggle.:help:

However I became pregnant 10 months into my surgery and has gained a lot of weight since having the baby ... a year ago.

I just can't seem to get any weight off no matter what I try.

My doctor thinks that I distended my pouch since I am able eat a lot despite having had a lot of fillings. He's recommending a liquid diet for a month.

Has anyone had this kind of problem?:help:

Does anyone have recommendations for liquid diet that is tastey?

Any other tips will be very appreciated. Thanks

Hi mom and welcome to LBT.

It sounds to me like you maybe need to have it looked at under fluoroscopy to see if you indeed have a pouch distension, and maybe need a fill. I have heard of other bandsters shrinking the distension with a liquid diet for a short while.

Are you experiencing any kind of band restriction or can you eat anything?

As far as liquid diets go, there's lots of good Protein drinks and Soups you could try.

:help:Thanks for the early response.

I have not it checked under fluro because I am self pay and that is going to be so expensive. I did have an upper GI series done and the films showed that I did not have a slippage, so the only other reason for my symptoms, according to my MD, is a distention.

I actually attempted to go on a liquid diet for about a week and was not successful.:) I do like food!:hungry: So for me, it is going to be a big sacrifice. Hence I need specific liquid diets that anyone has tried and tastes good. Any other good tips will be appreciated.

I cannot reccommend any specific diets, I think we all have different tastes. What I think might be yummy, you might think is too sweet, etc. I have heard many folks really like the Matrix line of Protein drinks. They are the highest quality and are a litte more expensive, but it's worth it and you get what you pay for.

Try tossing what you like in a blender. Make creative Soups, you can do this. It's a month out of your life to save something you paid $$ for. In my liquid stage I liked popsicles, yogurt drinks, Campbell's Soup at Hand soups, Campbell's Gold Select soups, lots of soups that come in boxes (usually no chunks in those), Tomato juice, V8, unflavored unjury Protein powder added to things, pureed stuff with liquids added to make then a Soup.< /p>

Mom of 4, I don't know if this will help, but I've been drinking shakes that are pretty tasty. I was totally addicted to carbs and using them, I was able to get off the addiction and really get on the weight loss track. Their flavors are chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. They also have a Protein powder that I added because I needed the extra Protein. What I did was not a straight liquid diet, but for starters was 3 Meal Replacement shakes and 2 snack bars in between. The key for me is that they don't set off my carb cravings.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
