James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 21, 2016 Everyones experience will differ. I had minimal pain. After leaving the recovery room, I declined all pain medicine primarily because I didn't need it. I began walking almost immediately while I was in the hospital and it really helped in the recovery process. Don't expect much sleep while in the hospital. Good luck on your surgery. linda71730 8 Posted March 22, 2016 I had mine on the 15th. I hurt quite a bit day 1. I was on a pain pump but walking eased the pain more than anything for me. I had a foley catheter which i begged for them to remove. I was given a liquid diet the next morning luckily I never felt nausea or fell ill. Experienced difficulty with gas and unable to have bm, don't be shy this happens frequently after surgery the doctors usually have already ordered something. Pain pump was removed the night after surgery. You will need to measure every ice chip, liquid you take and every thing you put out while in the hospital. My regular meds was restarted day after surgery. I was discharged on the morning of day 3 without problems. Everyone's experience is different this was mine. So far at home I've been facing some cravings and head hunger. I took some pain meds the first 2 days home but haven't needed anything since. Tomorrow will be a week and only one incision is still tender. Walk walk walk it helps with pain and gas. I've lost 10lbs this week which I feel is excessive but I'm excited to see it! Good luck to yall. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App
