ALERT!!! If anyone is contemplating surgery with weightlossagents.com / Sleeve and it's affiliates you need to look on the web and on YouTube to find out about the allegations that patients are dying who have had WLS at this clinic! There is a video of Angie D. Stidum, from San Diego California in a coma who died in January of this year and three others who have died before and shortly after leaving this facility. They themselves or the families of the deceased have expressed to the channel 10 team, that several other patients from the United States who say that they have been left at the border on their deathbeds! Please go on YouTube and punch in the owners name, Jarred Cohen, his wife Alexis Cohen as well as Dr. Almanza and others affiliated with this clinic! This is a scary prospect and people need to have the full story! I don't have all of the facts but this is the report rendered by By the news team at channel 10 in San Diego California. Be informed, be diligent and please be wise!

Clearly anyone who is still using Dr. Almanza at this point hasn't done a single minute of research into surgeons, so they probably won't see this post. There are dozens of reports about complications and deaths. This site ended it's affiliation with Almanza months ago and there are many multi-page threads about why. My fear is, this information clearly isn't making it into the hands of his potential patients, because he preys upon those who do little to no research.

I have seen people that are well aware of the reports against this doctor and for some reason they say it's the patients fault. I am not sure what they are smoking :)

If it all the patients' fault, what is he doing to attract such terrible patients? Because I haven't heard 1/10th as many horror stories about all the other TJ surgeons put together as I've heard about this guy. You'd think if it really were the patients' fault, then the other surgeons would be having similar problems with their patients.

The stories about alamanza really did scare me away from considering MX. Glad I was able to talk to people who had seen other Drs and that I decided to go through with the surgery. But honestly if an American doc had that type of reputation I really doubt all these people would be saying it was the patients fault and would instead be screaming "off with his head"

I really hate how one bad apple spoils the bunch. The stories about Almanza are the reason the stereotypes against Mexican surgeons get perpetuated. There are so many fantastic surgeons in Mexico and they get a bad rap, just because of this ONE guy. Very frustrating.

I've spent months researching doctors in Tijuana, MX.

I decided on dr. Ponce de leon and will be setting my date most likely this week.

Almanza wasn't even a consideration.

I heard many stories with this Doctor and it scared me too. I continued my research and decided to do my surgery with Dr. Sergio Quiñones. It was the best decision. The entire staff was amazing. I honestly felt I was with family! I'm currently on day 7 post op and feeling great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
