I am 10 days post op and I don't feel well at all. I had the surgery last Thursday came home Friday and was admitted again on Saturday for dehydration and gastritis.... I'm on all types of meds for my stomach including a cocktail of mylanta and some other stomach medicines. Every time I swallow anything to drink I get a horrible pain in my belly. I get a weird feeling in my throat that starts to bubble then I burp but it feels like I wanna vomit. I contracted shingles while being admitted so I'm on antibiotics for that now also. I'm borderline depressed and questioning why did I do this to myself. Hoping and praying things get better but woke up today feeling like I have a chest cold. I don't think I'm taking in E ought fluids because like I said it hurts going down. I have a appt tomorrow with my Dr hopefully he can give me so positive info and say this to shall pass. Anyone else go thru anything similar.

Most importantly at this stage is to stay in close contact with your surgeon. Your surgeon knows what is normal or not normal. Sometimes medical professionals see so many normal variations that they forget to tell their individual patients that everything is ok. Write down your symptoms and concerns before you see them tomorrow so you don't forget. By your post, it doesn't appear that your surgery went off without any hitches. Hang in there, do as your surgeon tells you. Get plenty of rest and stay as hydrated as you can, keep a cup of Water in your hand at all times, it will remind you to take sips. 4 months later and I still get busy and forget my water. I too came down with a cold about 10 days post op, I rested and focused on getting in water and Protein Shakes. Have you started on Vitamins yet? If not talk to your surgeon about when and what. It does get better, maybe a little longer for you with the added complications but you will get there and when you start seeing the weight come off, you won't remember these issues

Thank you so much and I will definitely write down all concerns. I know everything with the sleeve itself is ok but it's just the extra stuff I'm going thru. Yes I started my Vitamins all chewables but with the amount of meds I'm taking its so hard to keep up with everything not to mention I'm so weak and borderline depressed. I hope things ease up... Now I have 100.5 fever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
