Update about my almost 4yrs RNY journey

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

It's been quite a while since I participated in the group. I had WLS (RNY) back in. 04/02/2012, had a baby in 09/02/2014.

Initial WT 260

Reached WT 135

Current WT 185

I been feeling a little discourage because of this this plateau that I had hit and seem not to be able to get control of my WT again. I feel that I stretch my pouch but that hopefully is not too late to restored. So I been considering to do the 5 days pouch test but I want to learn about some of you guys that had already done it.

- Do you really restore your pouch to normalcy?

- How much wt you can lose during this 5 days? If any!

TIA!

Hi, I don't know but definitely try my fitness pal to log your foods. Good luck and congrats on your baby. BTW losing 50 pounds is definitely doable.

Welcome back! I just wanted to mention the 5 day pouch test is really not so much about how much weight you lose in those 5 days but more about getting back on track. It helps you to reset to when you had surgery.

I know that if I ever regain and I anticipate it, I would do the pouch test just to get back on track.

The best of luck to you! I know you can do this because you once reached your goals. You can remove the bad habits that allowed you to regain. You already know what you need to do.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
