4 days Post Op and retaining much fluid even with walks/rest/water/ice packs

Recommended Posts

Hi ALL,

I am 4 days post op and feeling mixed. I do not quite understand if it is "considered normal" after the surgery in the first week post op tmuch Fluid retention even after ice packs on feet and legs, adequate fluid intake, rest, and walks. In fact, I have weight after so many days without food? Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you all in advance,

Brook

It is very common. Not only are you swollen from the surgery, you were also pumped full of IV fluids while you were in the hospital.

You are still healing. Just focus on walking, testing, staying hydrated, and getting in your Protein.

It's totally normal, it's called a post-op Fluid shift. In a few days, it will shift in the other direction. Promise!
