I've not read the article, but if it says in there somewhere that "catching the eye of an incredible and beautiful young woman, who is well and truly out of your league but inexplicably still seems to like you - despite you being you" will keep you motivated, it's spot on...

Just sayin'...

Interesting--very interesting. I re-read it several times and picked up a new "aaahhh-haaaa" moment with each read.

Thank you for the posting.

Thank you for sharing! The number of reason for a goal resonated. I have many reasons for exercising and some are at odds with each other. One is to help with weight loss, obviously, which gets me feeling like I should push as hard as possible. But I also want to enjoy it so I'll stick with it in the long term.

On Friday, I noticed I was dreading my exercise for the day — a long walk with my dogs. I decided that instead of power-walking and checking my heart rate monitor constantly, I just wanted to savor being outside on a beautiful, scenic trail. I had a really good time and walked 4.6 miles. Not too shabby!

Nice information. Thanks for posting it. Use whatever motivates and inspires you...Even if it seems a bit out of the norm.

I have used the gym crush method :

I pick a guy that has a fantastic fitness level (attractiveness is a perk) On the days I feel like not going. I picture him and go.

Rule NO 1. Thou shall NEVER talk to your gym crush. ( it ruins what you have built them up to be in your mind (unless your single talk to them)

Rule No 2 If you talk to your gym crush you must look for a new one.

It may be a bit wrong ..But what ever keeps me motivated ;)

Of course, there's always the "f**k you" motivator...

It may not be particularly healthy, but one can only utilise the tools one has at hand...

If that's gonna get the job done then I say 'giddy up'...

My *fu*k you motivation.....I placed a photo of my sister in law on my treadmill. Taking your anger out on a workout makes you work harder and feel fantastic afterward.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
