I was heavy all the way through elementary and middle school my uniforms were "huskie"

. My weight quickly rose through my teens, peaking at 220lbs at 5'11"

I didn't have a problem doing anything really, played baseball, ran, did all that stuff. At one point, I hit 240... Then by the time I was 22 or so, I was 260... Then 280. Every diet has failed, except total extreme dieting like Atkins and extreme low calorie. Those diets are so extreme you simply can not sustain them for too long. I also went through the Phentermine fad, stacker two when it was legit, and even this other stuff called Thermobolics (we're talking 1998)

I decided to look into weight loss surgery because I went for a check up (now at 36 y/o) and it was determined that I have High Cholesterol, Higher than normal blood pressure, a fatty liver, in addition already being diagnosed with sleep apnea, IBS and acid reflux, and finally I got out of breath changing a flat tire and I am tired of wrestling with the friggin seatbelt. At this point I'm lazy, always tired, and I don't enjoy doing ANYTHING except eating to total excess and sitting on the couch. All of my excess weight is from the waist up, and it is said that I look like a Seagull. [get it now?]

Anyway, I did 6 months of supervised dieting [fail], sonogram, endoscopy, sleep apnea test, and I have my final consult next week, then I assume I will get my surgery date. Until month #4, I was planning on getting O-band but decided to switch to the sleeve after much research. I am Nervous and excited, but hopeful that this will be a positive life change that will let me finally go back to doing things I enjoy -- more than hitting a good Buffett. My guess is I am going to regret waiting so long, but whatever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
