FollowMe 0 Posted March 19, 2016 (edited) RNY 3/14/16 4 days Post Op the only pain I'm having is gas pain lower left abdomen. What has worked for you? How long did this last? It's 9/10 on pain scale when I'm getting in or out of bed. Other than that, no complications. Please help. This gas pain is hell. Cervidae 2,389 Posted March 19, 2016 Unfortunately, gas pain like that can only be reduced with time and moving around. Some of it may be relieved with Gas-X Strips, but generally this gas that was pumped into your abdomen during surgery is going to have to just be reabsorbed into your body. Hang in there, it gets better soon!
girl4god77 39 Posted March 19, 2016 I'm pre op but met someone 13 days post op who said herbal peppermint tea is very helpful for gas. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Cervidae 2,389 Posted March 19, 2016 Just make sure it's caffeine-free! That does sound lovely though, with or without gas pain.
FollowMe 0 Posted March 19, 2016 Thank you guys. And good luck to you on your surgery. For me, the hardest part has been this gas pain...at times it makes me question if this will ever be worth all of this pain. Thank you for the support. Djmohr 6,965 Posted March 19, 2016 I had terrible gas pain. For me walking, sipping and the use of a heating pad really helped it dissipate. I also used gas x when my bowels began working again. That pain can be pretty uncomfortable.

FollowMe 0 Posted March 20, 2016 Thank you. I will be trying a heating pad and peppermint tea today. This pain, for me, is truly the worst part of it all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
