Did everyone get Antibiotics pre op?

I thought today my doctor said I'd be on antibiotics I have surgery in 4 days. When I went today to get my meds there was not any antibiotics??????? Guess I'll call them tomorrow.

I haven't gotten my surgery date yet but I'm a nurse and usually they give you IV antibiotics right before you go to the operation room to prevent infection.

i was only on abtibiotics because i had h pylori in my stomach, otherwise i would not have been given them.

Nope, didn't have any antibiotics pre-op that I recall.

But I did have to shower twice before surgery with some special yucky surgical soap.

I think he might have meant preop

As in right as they are rolling you into the operating room they will infuse antibiotics.

It's done right before surgery because it helps reduce the risk of infection from the procedure.
