Surgery 3/9 .... Two week fluid diet (3/10-3/24)

Recommended Posts

I'm having feeling of disgust towards myself for not being able to overcome these constant head hungers.

When I was a child sometimes we didn't have enough food and I always told myself I would never put myself in that situation again. During these last 7 days I have been bombarded with locked childhood memories. I know just 7 more days left and all should be well ... right.

I had my surgery on the 9th too, and I feel those constant head hungers too. But I just remind myself how important my health is and it helps out a little. When I start craving something I just take a sip of my Protein shake or try to put my train of thought somewhere else. Hope this helps.

Maybe you should talk to someone about it if you can like a therapist or counselor or get in tune with yourself or Higher Power if you believe in one and try to work through the situation that way. Maybe just write about it in a journal or a blog and try to get the feelings that keep haunting you out of your head and put them into perspective. I start the liquid diet next week so I don't know what you're going through yet but it sounds like you're going through a test. Just stay strong and don't give in. You can do this!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
