Hi all. Sad to say that I have fallen of the wagon so bad. But I say it's OK, as long as you keep trying right. I've got the band and want to go back to the basics.

U have made an appointment with my doc for 29 March to discuss beginning again.

But before I get my hopes up, please answer me this... will filling the band to the max allow me to go on a soft food / puree diet for a month or two?

Thanks xx

No way of knowing before you do it. Be aware that, as it's the unknown, filling to the max could leave you wishing for death. No bariatric practitioner will do that, certainly not right out of the gate. If you really wish to limit yourself to soft foods and purées for a while, why not just make those your food choices with a reasonable, working level of saline in your band?

You'll do as you see fit. I don't know how much good work you've undone, but I'm there, too. In deciding how to get back on the horse, I wouldn't choose a route that might conceivably feel like punishment for having regained weight. That's what a period of soft foods and purées seems to me. The process of eating well and seeing results should be a joy. I don't see a month of mush, for example, as joyful.

Best wishes for your renewal regardless of how you do it.

You didn't provide much information so it's hard to give advice... what caused you to fall off the wagon? How full is your band right now? What are your eating habits like? Were you successful before?

Generally speaking, I wouldn't advise ANYONE to fill their band to the max. Some folks fill it up halfway and can't even swallow. Would you really want to constrict your band so much you're completely blocking off the opening to your stomach?

Seems really extreme to me. The reason I like the lap band is because the weight loss is slow and steady. There shouldn't be a deadline for weight loss. You'll get there! Talk to your doctor and get his/her advice. Most doctors only fill 1-2 cc's at a time. Don't do anything to hurt yourself.

Personally, I never heard of anyone having to fill their band to the max....(some people think they are)

I have pretty good restriction. There are times - cycles even, where I begin to lose that restriction.

I don't go looking for another fill, I have 7 cc's already. I do certain things to get me back to that place.

After 5 years, that is the only maintenance I can think of with the band.

I also read here all the time from people saying they have fallen off the wagon with the band...again, personally from my own experience, I 'm not sure how that can happen...with diets sure. Done it 1000's of times. But with surgery? A properly adjusted band?

Go to the "Surgeons" tab at the top of the screen and search. Otherwise, go to the website of your manufacturer. If you have Lap-Band brand, it's lapband.com.

It's got nothing to do with efficacy of the band and everything to do with food choices. Crunchy things -- chips and the like -- and sugared things -- cake, Cookies and the like -- go down so easily and somehow evade being noticed by the one doing the consuming. Emotions are powerful influences.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
