wanabthin 0 Posted August 4, 2007 I was pretty nervous but ther surgeon said it couldn't have went better! Everything was perfect. I felt pretty good last night, I'm a little more sore today but the meds are helping. The one thing I didn't expect was to feel hungry! Everyone said I would have swelling and feel full but I don't. In fact my stomach has even growled a few times. Is this normal? Also, the doc. said no restrictions on lifting but the nurse wrote no lifing for 2 weeks on my discharge papers. I have a baby at home, so I'm not sure what to do with the conflicting information. What was everyone else told?
beachgirl 2 Posted August 4, 2007 Congrats, I'm soooo proud everything went great for you. I came home to my 9 month 10 month old granddaughter and lifted her after about day 3. Have someone if you can put them in your lap but I know if your by yourself that makes it impossible. Just be careful you don't want to pull anything loose. I didn't have any staples or stitches on the outside just glue but you do on the inside. I wan't hungry but everyone is different. It will pass. I'm so happy for you. This time next year you'll be skinny minny. Hugs, Sherri Jo
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted August 4, 2007 The nurse may have been following standard orders so do whatever your doc said. Congrats on being banded!!!
coltonwade 27 Posted August 4, 2007 my doc said no lifting anything over 20 lbs for 6 weeks. My friends daughter was over there the other day and shes' 15lbs , So I was just watching how much I was lifting her. I would say if she's under 20 lbs then your probably going to be ok. But you might want to double check w/ your doc. As for the hunger , I really was not hungry for about a week after surgery . Are you drinking lots of Water ? I was constantly drinking after surgery . TexasBecky 1 Posted August 4, 2007 My doc said no lifting restrictions - that I can do whatever I feel well enough to do. Well, that is not too much today. I felt better yesterday than I do today, but I'm sure I'll be feeling good in a few days. I am not hungry today and finding it hard to get in all the fluids I need, but I'm working on it. Good luck to you.
kacee 3 Posted August 5, 2007 Oh by the way...you will get used to the "growlies"....they'll become a part of your life. My stomach never growled before the band. Now it talks to me every 3 hours or so. It was distracting at first, but now it's just part of me.
