bizzarrea 7 Posted March 16, 2016 To all you newbies out there - don't believe all the happy people at a week out. Well you can believe what you want but I believed a little too much. Pre op... Up until the minute of my surgery I had read these forums. 99% of post op patients had what seemed to me, no pain. Like they were up playing baseball on day 2 post op. That wasn't the case for me. I am now almost five months post op and until about my sixth week I had huge regrets! I was week all the time. Exhausted. Depressed. HUNGRY. And on top of all that I only lost 8 lbs in that whole six weeks. It was insane. I literally wished I hadn't had the surgery. After the sixth week I started to feel good. Really good. Now at almost five months out I'm down 77 lbs and I feel like I am a new person. Hang in there. I promise it gets better. Some of us just take longer than others. cookarue 233 Posted March 16, 2016 I really relate to how you were feeling post-op. I felt absolutely horrible for about 4 weeks myself. I wasn't walking after surgery until the 3rd day in the hospital except to get up to go to the bathroom. I was in there 5 days total, and I didn't have any complications at all. Now, I'm almost 3 months out and I feel amazing and would do every single miserable moment again. You look fantastic! You're doing a great job. I can really see a difference. bizzarrea 7 Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks to both of you. I mistyped my current weight - it's 279 (not 379). I've been in the 300s for 15 years... It's weird starting my weight with a "2"... Hence the mistake.

darnelladwashington 11 Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) I am one of those who are not in pain. I am 2 weeks out. I went back to work already. Now I will say this, the first couple of days home from the hospital I felt like I was going to faint. This was because my blood level dropped and it is still low. I have days when I feel weak but I keep going. People tell me I need to stop moving so much before I end up in the hospital. I still have not gotten hungry. I drink 2 shakes a day. As far as something with substance I can tolerate sardines, avocados, and cottage cheese. I tried creamed Soups and I felt like death was on my door after eating them. I can't wait until I can tolerate more. Good luck and congratulations. Edited March 17, 2016 by darnelladwashington
