Hi everyone!

I am 7 weeks post op and just now really getting into eating REAL food. My question is: do many of you have times when you swallow food and immediately have a pain in your upper stomach as if it is having trouble getting into your new stomach? i feel like i have to stretch and relax and stretch again when this happens. i know i am still working on chewing my food into mush, but sometimes it gets down my throat before i can really get it chewed enough.. Any others out there??

Thanks!

I am also 7 weeks out and I am still experiencing pain under my left breast area after eating too. Some times it happens and other times it doesn't. Last night I could only eat 1 1/2oz of ground turkey and 1/4 cup of refried Beans and I had pain. Tonight I had 3 ounces of Lobster and had no pain at all. Very weird. Our stomachs are still healing and are sensitive to some things especially if they aren't chewed well and we eat too fast. I don't know when things will be getting better but I know each day is a new day and hopefully less pain for us all.

at 7 weeks out im also at a weight loss stall. idk if its from not eating enough, or eating too much of something specific.. i feel like i should have lost more by this point than i have.. i've only lost 32lbs. does that sound normal? i know everyone loses at a different pace..but something has got to give soon. it's getting discouraging!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
