Search for Week 3 Stall. 90% of WLS patients experience a stall around 3 weeks post-op. It is completely normal.

Guys, calm down. I am not exaggerating when I say that 90% of WLS patients go through this. I see this exact same post on these boards at least 10 times a day. Stick to your program. Get your Protein, Water, and Vitamins in. Get up and moving at least once an hour. And you WILL lose weight. I promise you.

Everyone experiences stalls. You need to give your body a chance to catch up. It's just been through major trauma and it is reeling. It does this to protect itself and allow you to heal.

Dont fret you guys! i also went thru the dreaded Week 3 stall and now i will be 7 weeks out tomorrow and the scale does start moving again. i also found it helpful to take measurements as when my scale wasn't moving down, i was still losing in inches!

hang tight and good luck!!

Neither my surgeon or NUT really give me a diet. He says it's a lifestyle change so I need to learn to eat healthy, and not totally restrict or I'll end up failing like all other diets.

The only thing you need to do is be patient and keep getting your Water and Protein in. If stalls are going to freak you out like this, then just stay off the scale so it doesn't cause you anymore stress. Everyone stalls early out, and everyone will have several stalls throughout the process. It's going to be okay. Really.

@@malvarez1210 The World According to Eggface has tons of great recipes for post-wls eating, organized by stage, type of food, etc.:

http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

She does include some foods that were not permitted at all on my plan (such as potatoes) so you want to pick and choose your recipes carefully to make sure they are in compliance with your plan.

That's weird. Every doctor I know of does go over the new eating habits. Be careful of carbs. They will sabotage your weight loss. This is especially true since many carbs are sliders and you can eat a ton of them. I know this from personal experience. Imagine my shock when I ate almost the entire bag of large popcorn at the movies without even the slightest feel of a restriction.

Is there anything that can be done? I've read of something called a 'reset', had anyone heard of this or done it?

Reset what? You aren't yet getting enough fluids. And it doesn't look like you are getting enough Protein.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone stalls and almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids every day. For me that means AT LEAST 100 grams of protein and 64 oz of Fluid, every day.

Track your food.

Avoid starches, added sugars, and fried foods.

Eat slowly and mindfully.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

And, stay off the scale!

Embrace the Stall!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
