Help...protein bars.....ugggh

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I'm 6 weeks out of gastric bypass surgery and can have Protein Bars for a meal (snack????). So I just ate a Premier Protein Bar that has a weight of 5.63 oz and I'm not suppose to eat over 4 oz. ... of course now i'm really paranoid that i'll stretch my pouch or gain weight. Uggh. should probably cut them in half going forward or no big deal really?? Your thought?

I could only eat 1/2 Quest bar for the first several months. A whoke one just made me too full. (Aaaah, those were the days). So just eat what you can (or are supposed to) and save the rest for later. Makes for a really cheap grocery bill.

Usually it is volume that is concerning... not so much weight of the item. I am a believer in listening to your body, eat to absence of hunger and save the rest for later! And yes, the good old days. I have alot more capacity now, that is for sure.

You'll really really really need to work at stretching it....lol 80% of its gone

But understand most of the stretchy part of the stomach has been removed. Its not gonna happen from a few oz.

You wanna know his much u can fit Google cottage cheese test

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
