Hi I'm scheduled to have my sleeve on March 17, 2016.. I have such anxiety about waking up after my surgery...I hope my throat isn't severely sore...I've never gone a day without water!!!! I was told I wouldn't be able to drink until day 2.. I'm also concerned about having low blood sugar...The Surgeon said not to worry..Do anyone else feel the same anxiety?

I am nervous too, slightly different things, but still nervous. We will be alright. I am not scheduled until the 28th. I may get a lot more freaked out before then.

It'll go well. Be calm. Breathe. Think of all the future days you'll thank yourself for doing this.

OK good, I thought it was just me.

Yes.... My surgery is March 17 and I'm so scared. I continuously think about not having it done. I want to do this but I'm afraid.

You'll do great tomorrow! I was able to drink within about 24 hours. My surgery was mid day and the following morning I took my leak test and was given Water. You'll do wonderful!

I can tell you that the surgery is a breeze. I too was so scared. I heard so many horror stories about the gas pains and was paranoid about blood clots and not waking up from the anesthesia. I thought the pain was going to be horrible. I was delightfully shocked to learn that the pain was on the level of being punched in the stomach, meaning quite tolerable. No gas pains at all. The only part that actually hurt was when they removed the drain. So you have nothing to fear.

Also, I have no memory of even losing consciousness. I simply laid down on the operating table and the next thing I know I wake up in a dark room. I actually thought that I hadn't had the surgery yet and was surprised to learn that it was all over with. Total breeze.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you'll know I was Sleeved on March 17th..I'm now home from the hospital..I must say the surgical team was prepared for me when I arrived...I explained to them I was very nervous and feeling very anxious!!!!! The Nurses calmly said" you're in good hands, just relax" When I was being wheeled into the OR I just said a prayer, crossed my arms and relaxed...The anesthesiologist said" ok you've been waiting for this big Day! Here we go.. It was. Blink of an eye and it was over...

I am still a ways out from surgery but my biggest worry is not waking up from the anesthesia. I had a gallbladder surgery back in 2007. I was 200 pounds lighter and 9 years younger so I was in much better health. I couldn't eat or drink for 3 days before the surgery. I was on an IV to stay hydrated. I remember being wheeled into the operating room and placed next to the table. I don't remember getting on the table. I just awoke in a recovery room. For a second I didn't know what was going on and started to get up to leave before the nurses stopped me. I'm trying to get in the best shape I can but I'm most concerned with dying on the table.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
