My restriction - or lack of

Recommended Posts

Had my sleeve on the 1 st and have really have had a great recovery thus far. I have already lost several pounds since hospital discharge and up until the last 2 days I have felt what I considered to be the normal restriction and almost no real hunger. The odd thing is that as of last night I have almost felt like my restriction has lessened. I had Tomato Soup last night and I measured out 4 ounces but expected it to feel some restriction before I finished it, but I didn't and I really felt like I wanted more. I also drank about 2 ounces of a Protein Shake because I thought maybe I needed some Protein. I still didn't really feel restriction.

Today I have had the same feelings. I also don't seem to have the problem of needing to sip slowly. I can drink Water, shakes, Soup almost as quickly as before surgery.

I realize that I may be worrying for nothing and that I should be glad I can swallow without bloating but I wanted to get some feedback from other regarding this.

Is this normal?

I was sleeved the first as well and feel the same (though I am not on Soups yet only broths) and I posted too for this. Everyone says it is normal and as they are liquids they pass faster.. Once we get to mushy or non liquid the restriction kicks in again. Most people say the ability to not tense up or have an issue like earlier just means our stomachs are healing...

@@MIMISAN ... you've been on this board for a long time prior to surgery. I thought you'd have read about / known this already, but here's the deal:

Your new sleeve -- swollen though it is -- doesn't resist any liquids. And Soup is just another liquid.

Wait 'til you eat some chicken. Ha! You'll discover restriction!

You right I have read these things but I forgot that liquid is different than food. Also as with everything in life... my experience affects me much more than someone else's experience! LOL

I'm suffering from the same. I have just moved onto the pureed foods and had some scrambled eggs this morning. I cooked one and didn't finish it, but I never really felt satisfied. I kinda feel nothing. From what I've read it seems to be normal size my nerves haven't "reconnected" so I guess I can't feel my stomach 100%.

But the same here I can drink Water pretty fast with no problem.

I was like you guys ...'wtf where's my restriction !! '

But I learned better. Some people comment on how they get totally stuffed on 2-3 ounces, (even well beyond my 6 months post-op).....must be nice. I swear I could eat 7-8 oz chicken Took me 4 months to realize I needed to look at it different than them.

I Don't look for the "Feeling" of restriction any more, by the time I feel it, its too late. I ate/drank too much. Do that too often and you'll get yourself all worked up about whether you stretched your pouch or not.....**don't go their, its an overrated worry people get all worked up about unnecessarily***

I needed to learn to slow down my meals. Pause a couple minutes between my bites and give that ....Slow.. satisfied ....cue.... to reach my brain.

I was chasing the wrong sensation....

Relax.., slow down and relearn how to listen to your stomach's and enjoy the ride

Don't overly count on feeling restriction to win this. Its not a sure thing for some of us.

Thanks for your reply, that does make sense to me and we do tend to expect our experience to be just like someone else's, why? We are all different. I will just embrace the new me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
