Today I am 6 days post gastric sleeve surgery. Today I drank a 16.9 oz bottle of Metromint Peppermint Water in about 35 minutes. I'm now a little freaked out about it. Should I be able to drink that much water this soon? Is this going to stretch my sleeve/pouch out? I love the peppermint flavored water and hot tea (caffeine free) it soothes my stomach. I am also craving Pickle Juice, anyone else? Thanks for any advice.

Water slides right through your pouch very quickly and will not stretch out your pouch. I've been able to drink large amounts of water since I had surgery and my doctor said that everyone is different with the amounts they can drink.

I would say pickle juice is a craving for sodium/salt... Maybe try low sodium beef broth (it still has a good bit of a salty flavor) with a pinch of added sea salt so it hits the taste buds. Good luck!, pickles are my most favorite food and what I craved all the time, but the sodium made them a Nono for me having high blood pressure..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
