Marketing to plus-sized women = Fat-shaming. Low blow, bold response.

Have you seen this? I found the first item slightly confusing, but, when googling "Christina Ashman," the designer of plus-sized clothing who sent out her take on the offensive ads, found that BuzzFeed filled in the blank.

The first link wouldn't load.

I did read the second or third. I get her point but the first thing I thought when I read the 2nd link is "Isn't Alibaba a site that sells Chinese knockoffs?" They probably just picked the largest slave laborer in their employ and made her "wear" the leggings so they could take a picture. They probably don't have a lot of plus-sized folks working for them.

Am I bad?

@@Inner Surfer Girl, yes, you are very bad.

Try the first link again? It works for me. Otherwise, copy into the address bar? Okay, I'll try it again here, maybe including more or less than I did the first time.

In seriousness, I only know of Ali Baba's existence as an Ebay sort of site and that the owner/founder is wealthy enough to own the People's Republic of China and Taiwan and still have money left over to take us all to lunch. Maybe I'll take a look at it some time.

I like inexpensive clothes as much as anyone, but I really don't want to help perpetrate worldwide labor abuses. My sister-in-law is Chinese and I know that a lot of good comes out of China, but I have a very hard time buying cheap anything from Chiba knowing their record on labor abuse. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to tell where most things are manufactured since there are so many steps in the production process.

I hadn't thought about the origins of goods in a long time and wasn't quite clear on the "made in xyz" labels. Maybe the "made in..." refers to the place where the final piece was assembled? Labor abuses are so widespread in the world. I have no idea whether huge, American retailers have real effect when they issue policy statements on contracting with manufacturing facilities and buying only from companies whose workers have decent conditions.

It hurt me to use the term "fat-shaming" and it was a first. It never quite made sense to me, as it smacks of what seems to have grown into a broad victim movement of the past decade or so. Ignorance, yes, unkindness or thoughtlessness, yes, but often shame or victimhood is one's own product. That's not to say always, but often enough.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
