sunshine1531 30 Posted March 13, 2016 My surgery is coming up soon on march 22nd and I've been re-reading through all my education materials from my doctor. I'm finding a lot of good examples of solid Proteins he recommends eating but I only found one part that talked about how MUCH Protein I should be consuming in a day. It says the minimum requirement is 50 gm for women and 65 gm for men. My question is, if that's the minimum, is there a higher number I should be trying to target instead? Or is there a maximum amount also? Thanks for the advice! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App

I was sleeved April 20, 2015 and my Protein target is 100 grams a day. According to my surgeon's practice the targets are: 100 grams a day for a men and anyone with a starting BMI of over 50. 80 grams a day for women with a starting BMI of under 50. It seems to me that most good surgeon's have a target of at least 80-90 grams.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 13, 2016 It is a function of age and activity level. Your surgeon should provide you with a recommended daily minimum.
